Hey everyone! I’m trying something new & have teamed up with Cait from Functionally Fictional for the Book of the Month! What this means is that we pick one book a month & host a live book talk over on Twitter!

For June, we’re reading Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes! I met Colleen Oakes when I went to a book signing at the Tattered Cover back in 2017.  I read the blurb of Queen of Hearts and knew then and there that I had to own that series! With all of the books on my TBR, I just never found time to pick them up again. With Colleen Oaks going to Denver Pop Culture Con, I knew this was the right time to finally read Queen of Hearts! I am so excited to share my thoughts with all of you on June 26th! P.S. The audiobook has been AMAZING so far!  Are you wondering what Queen of Hearts is about? Take a look at the Goodreads description!

Queen of HeartsOnly queens with hearts can bleed.

This is not the story of the Wonderland we know. Alice has not fallen down a rabbit hole. There is no all-knowing cat with a taunting smile. This is a Wonderland where beneath each smile lies a secret, each tart comes with a demand, and only prisoners tell the truth.

Dinah is the princess who will one day reign over Wonderland. She has not yet seen the dark depths of her kingdom; she longs only for her father’s approval and a future with the boy she loves. But when a betrayal breaks her heart and threatens her throne, she is launched into Wonderland’s dangerous political game. Dinah must stay one step ahead of her cunning enemies, or she’ll lose not just the crown but her head.

Evil is brewing in Wonderland and maybe, most frighteningly, in Dinah herself.

This is not a story of happily ever after.

This is the story of the Queen of Hearts.”

Doesn’t it sound amazing? I know! I can’t wait to talk about it with all of you over on twitter! The live book chat is going to happen June 26th, 2019, at 6pm MDT! Make sure to use the #BookBabble hashtag and join in on the fun!

  1. I’ve still haven’t read a retelling but I do enjoy audiobooks. I do love your idea of discussing the book on Twitter.

    1. I just finished the book today and I will say it was pretty fascinating. It is a dark origin story for the Queen of Hearts. It is definitely different and if you like Alice in Wonderland, it is worth the read!
