Claimed is a dark erotic romance. Please pay close attention to the use of the words dark, erotic, and romance. It has intense sexual situations, a Master/slave relationship, mild abuse and some violence. Reader discretion is advised.

With one look he consumed me.
With one touch he marked me.
With one kiss he owned me.
With one whisper he claimed me.

“No matter where you go or who you’re with, you’ll always be mine.”

Ellie Stevens thought she had moved on from the domineering man who abducted her. Now living in Hawaii and following her dreams, no one is going to keep her down. But things aren’t always as they seem.

Kayne Rivers reluctantly let Ellie go, but just because she’s gone now, doesn’t mean she’ll be gone forever. She is his, and he won’t stop until he’s reclaimed her as his own.

My Thoughts:

After I finished Owned, the first book in the Decadence After Dark series, I needed to jump into the next one. I subscribe to Audible’s Romance Package, so I was thrilled when I saw this book was in the package. Unfortunately, the second the female narrator started talking I could not handle it. Her voice just wasn’t my cup of coffee, so I put the book down. Luckily, kindle was having a Kindle Unlimited sale, so I finally took the plunge and subscribed again. I had such high hopes for this book because I enjoyed Owned. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get into this one as much. I enjoy dark erotica and the last book kept me on the edge of my seat, but this one just wasn’t as engrossing.

Claimed seemed to fall flat when compared to Owned. The darker elements that were present in Owned really didn’t show up in this book, which was a shame. Don’t get me wrong, I love romances, but all the elements that convinced me to read this book were barely present. What I did like was that this book delved into more of the relationship between Kayne & Ellie. The angst was definitely present, and I enjoyed seeing the relationship grow and change. Though I enjoyed reading more about Kayne and Ellie, I did struggle with the lack of plot. I think this book would have been better as a novella.

    1. I did not listen to the first one on audio. I actually had the ebook purchased for a couple years before and never found the time to read it. My only problem with the audio is that the female narrator’s voice just didn’t work for me. I would definitely try it out and see if it works for you! I really enjoyed Owned though it does have quite a few triggers so be warned. You can read my review for that one at http://www.caffeinatedfae.com/owned (graphics have yet to be updated for it FYI).

  1. Great honest review! It’s always a shame when the second book isn’t as good as the first.
