#FaeFriday | 4.3.2020

This week’s #FaeFriday is incredibly special to me. As many of you know, @Leahs_Books great nephew was born! He was born prematurely with a variety of health issues. He is the inspiration for this week! He’s a wee fae warrior which is why this week’s prompt is “what is your favorite warrior.”

I do not post this kind of link lightly, but if you’re able to please consider donating to help cover the newest faerie warrior’s medical expenses.

What is your favorite warrior?

Cover from Goodreads.com
This is the new cover that is releasing 4/21/2020

TW: Rape

My favorite warrior is the lovely Sorcha from Daughter of the Forest. Daughter of the Forest is heartbreaking, raw, hopeful, and beautiful. This book is one of my favorite fantasy novels though you should know that there is an on-page rape in the book. It is written in a way that does not glorify it, and it does show the horror of sexual assault. If that is a trigger for you, I recommend not reading it.

Sorcha endures things that no one should bear and has to experience tragic events silently. She is brave, stubborn, and inspirational. Sorcha is the definition of a warrior.

Goodreads Summary:

Lovely Sorcha is the seventh child and only daughter of Lord Colum of Sevenwaters. Bereft of a mother, she is comforted by her six brothers who love and protect her. Sorcha is the light in their lives, they are determined that she know only contentment.

But Sorcha’s joy is shattered when her father is bewitched by his new wife, an evil enchantress who binds her brothers with a terrible spell, a spell which only Sorcha can lift-by staying silent. If she speaks before she completes the quest set to her by the Fair Folk and their queen, the Lady of the Forest, she will lose her brothers forever.

When Sorcha is kidnapped by the enemies of Sevenwaters and taken to a foreign land, she is torn between the desire to save her beloved brothers, and a love that comes only once. Sorcha despairs at ever being able to complete her task, but the magic of the Fair Folk knows no boundaries, and love is the strongest magic of them all.

So now that you know my answer, what is your favorite warrior?
