It’s It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another #FaeFriday! The prompt this week was created by Ashley over at Red Haired Ash Reads! Faeries have been known to stand back and observe. So, the prompt this week is:
What secondary character is your favorite or even outshined the main character?

I thought I would have a hard time with this post, but then I remembered who my favorite characters from Harry Potter are. Look, I love the golden trio, but Luna Lovegood is the best. Luna is such a kind soul, and I love how quirky she is. She’s non-judgmental and just incredible. I honestly want to be her best friend. I would be friends with the golden trio, but I would easily punch Malfoy in the face for Luna.
So now that you know my answer, what secondary character is your favorite or even outshined the main character?

Luna is the best!!
She is!
I totally agree! Also, I love Manon Blackbeak from Throne of Glass.
I really need to read that series!
Oh, Manon is another favorite of mine!! She’s such a BADASS!
Aww, what a great answer! I love Luna Lovegood – she’s so quirky, but is completely comfortable with being exactly who she is.
She really is wonderful!
OMG YASSSSS, I LOVE LUNA LOVEGOOD SO FREAKING MUCH. I WISH SHE WAS IN MORE OF THE BOOKS AND MOVIES. I love neville too but Luna will forever be my favorite <3

Neville is one of my favorites too!
It’s been almost ten years since I read this book, but the first character I thought of for this prompt was Spencer Biddle, from the YA novel Not That Kind of Girl, by Siobhan Vivian. On the surface, Spencer seems like a ditzy, boy-crazy cheerleader whose only purpose is to serve as a foil to the ultra-feminist protagonist. Unlike the latter, Spencer seems determined to throw herself at any guy who’ll have her, making her the perfect candidate for Natalie’s teachings. But it’s Spencer who ends up teaching Natalie about how one-dimensional feminism isn’t, and how unnecessarily hurtful slut-shaming is.
Oh, that sounds like a fascinating read!
