Hiatus Update

TW: Death of a relative

Hi everyone, I just wanted to update you on why I’ve been quiet for the past few weeks. On June 17th, my Aunt passed away. My Aunt Diane was a wonderful woman who time and time again showed up. She was the one you could count on to take on a task, and always lead the way for others. She always put others before herself and genuinely wanted to know how you were. It’s weird to think about how that makes a difference. I never once thought she was just making conversation. Every time we talked, she was engaged, even when we didn’t see eye to eye. We spoke weekly, and on certain weeks it was almost daily. We definitely didn’t agree on everything, but at the end of the day, I knew she loved me. I cannot even express how painful it is to lose her. She loved fiercely, and the world is a bit dimmer now that she is gone. I am doing better, but I’m still not doing great.

Right now, I’m doing a bit better. I’ve finally started to have the motivation to read again though I’ve been focused mainly on audiobooks because they seem to be the format I can focus on. I have finished a few books, so I’m hoping to get some reviews written and posted soon. I’m probably not going to be back full force, but I’m hoping to start posting at least twice a week.

On a more personal note, I want to give you all a bit of advice. Take those pictures and make sure that you’re not always the one taking them. Those pictures are the things that your family will cherish. Those photos will help them when they’re grieving. I know that it can be hard to see yourself at an unflattering angle, or at a weight you don’t like, or *insert all other excuses but be in those photos. You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to not be the one that always takes the photo. Be better about asking someone to take your picture and be better about being in the photo.

I’m sending you all a virtual hug.

Kristy

Rest in peace, Aunt Diane.

  1. Your aunt sounds wonderful and I’m so sorry for her passing. You’re so right about making an effort to be in pictures instead of just taking them. Those are both beautiful photos.
