I have to admit that it took me quite some time to formulate my thoughts on this book. When I was in High School, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon was taking over. Christopher Paolini was a household name, and I enjoyed the first of the Inheritance Cycle series. So, when I saw this book was offered up on NetGalley as an Audiobook, I knew it was for me. I requested right away and slightly regretted it when I saw how long this audiobook was. I tend to have a maximum of 15 hours when it comes to length, and at 32 hours & 30 minutes, this book was very obviously over that 15-hour max.

This book was everything I wanted and more. I’ve loved Kit Rocha since I found their Beyond series, so when I saw Tor picked up this book, I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to read this book. It’s honestly everything that I would have wanted. I’m delighted that MacMillian removed the ebook embargo so that I didn’t have to wait three months to read it. But trust me, this book would have been worth the wait.

When I saw that Max Brooks had a new book out, I had to jump out and request it from NetGalley! World War Z is one of the top books I have read and one that I always recommend, so I couldn’t wait to get started on Devolution! Unfortunately, life happened, and I couldn’t seem to focus enough to pick this book up. Luckily, Libro.FM came swooping in with this audiobook as an option for their influencer program.

It’s been a few days since I finished this book, and I still don’t know quite how I feel about it. I picked this up as part of Libro.FM’s influencer program, and I was immediately drawn to the cover. Seriously, look at how pretty the cover is. I also enjoy post-apocalyptic reads. I figured I would give this book a chance.
I think it’s important to state that this book was not character-driven. You never even know the character’s name. You only know them as The Girl, The Man, and The Bear. I am such a character-driven reader that this honestly threw me off.

The Necromancer’s Prison is a daring adventure book that is sure to keep you turning the page. I loved seeing the interaction between the main characters, and I loved the bickering and comradery they had as well.

I’m typically not a lover of Science Fiction. I almost always stick to the fantasy side of the SciFi/Fantasy spectrum, but this book sparked my interest.
