When Rachel approached me to read this advanced reader copy, I jumped at the chance! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I love paranormal books. I was extremely excited to jump in and see where this book took me. The one thing that I loved the most about this book was the world. Rachel knows how to make a mysterious world where faeries and supernatural beings exist. I also loved that she played with the various types of fae and didn't go the Tinkerbell route. I found myself enthralled by the world and the different creatures.
It's Tuesday, and that means it's Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday used to be hosted over on The Broke and the Bookish but moved over to That Artsy Reader Girl. As described on The Artsy Reader Girl's blog, "It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together." This description is right up my alley, and I hope you all enjoy this tag as much as I do! The prompt this week was "Love Freebie," so I figured that I would take this freebie opportunity to share some of my favorite romances that I have read. There is a little bit of everything on this list. I hope that you will find something that will spark interest.
As many of you know, I LOVED Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller, so I was incredibly honored that Sourcebooks Fire sent me a physical copy of Belle Révolte! This book looked like everything I could want. I love fantasy & the blurb sounded terrific! Unfortunately, this book didn't live up to the hype I built in my head. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, but it wasn't nearly as amazing as I hoped it would be.
The plot was exciting and something a bit different with various borrowed elements as well. I could see a little bit of the many Young Adult dystopian novels in the book, so I was impressed that Kelsey Quick was able to write something refreshing.
Yetu was a fascinating main character, and I couldn't help but cry for her throughout the book. I loved the journey she takes, and I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book.
This would be an excellent novel for people who enjoy a good biography. This book felt like I was reading a biography that happened to have dragons in it.
It's Friday, and that means it is time for Friday Favorites! Friday Favorites is hosted by the wonderful blog Something of the Book. Basically, a prompt is given, and you get to gush about your favorites. This week's prompt is favorite magic wielders! As someone who loves the fantasy genre, this one came more natural to... Today is my 30th birthday, so I figured I would write a post to honor the books that defined me throughout my years. I think all book lovers can agree that we have individual books that will always hold a special place in our hearts. So I want to challenge you all to think about... Continue Reading →
The Orchid Throne was captivating. Seriously, everything about this book was phenomenal. Both Euthalia & Conri were fascinating to learn about, and I really enjoyed seeing both Euthalia and Conri's perspectives. Both characters were lovable and exciting. I couldn't help but root for them both.
