I’ve wanted to be more active on my blog, so I decided to participate in more weekly tags! Friday Favorites is hosted by the wonderful blog Something of the Book. Basically, a prompt is given, and you get to gush about your favorites.
This week’s prompt is Favorite Books from Childhood. As a child, I really didn’t read many books I would consider my favorite. I read because it was a way to escape, but I was a stupid child and read books that my friends were reading and not the books that interested me. Luckily, while reading popular books, I happened upon some fantastic books that ended up defining me.
Crosspatch by Helen & Alf Evers – This is a weird one, but it was one of my all-time favorite books when I was a kid. Now that I look back at it, it has a bit of a troubling message, but I still have that nostalgic love for it. FYI the link it to the Amazon page but I was able to secure a copy for A LOT cheaper elsewhere.
Animorphs by K. A. Applegate – OMG, I was obsessed with this series when I was in grade school. It is also the reason I’m slightly scared of fish.
Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg – Now, this isn’t one that I read in my childhood but it is one that I wish I had access to as a kid. This is also my go-to book recommendation for any parent. It’s basically a book that helps teach kids that imperfections and mistakes are normal and that it is okay to mess up.
This post contains Amazon Affiliate links. The price is the same great price for you but you’ll be supporting my blog through purchasing something through my link.
I read a lot of Enid Blyton as a child but my love of reading was shaped by then. The reason I chose Enid Blyton was that I was obsessed with The Famous Five and had a large collection of those books. Charlotte’s Web was also a favourite.
I recognise some of your reading influences as also my adult children’s ones and I am also a huge Harry Potter fan.
The Famous Five was my favourite series too! I hate all the hate on it and that it’s called sexist, she just wrote about the society that she lived in.
What about Narnia?
I’ve only read the first two in that series! I need to do a reread of them one of these days!
I love harry potter. That was one if my favorites
Omg I LOVED the Animorphs books! I also really loved the Dear America books as a kid.
I’m surprised I haven’t read animorphs. My favorite childhood book is pretty much anything by R. L. Stine.
A Wrinkle in Time by L’Engle. My 3rd grade teacher read it to the class a couple of chapters a week. I was fed up with that pace about half way through and begged my parents into buying a copy for me. Finished on my own in about three days. Still a favorite despite what Disney did to it.
That is awesome! I love when a book captures your attention like that!
I love this, I adored Enid Blyton’s book but I think I mostly read Roald Dahl’s work. His books I could read over and over again. In fact I still have most of his books
I haven’t read most of these, but Harry Potter was definitely a favourite (still is 😂)
Great post and a great list of books, Thank you so much for sharing your awesome post.
What a fun post! Nice to look back.
Never read this books but I’m glad you enjoy them.
