It’s Tuesday, and that means it’s Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday used to be hosted over on The Broke and the Bookish but moved over to That Artsy Reader Girl. As described on The Artsy Reader Girl’s blog, “It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” This description is right up my alley, and I hope you all enjoy this tag as much as I do! 

This week’s prompt is Halloween Freebie, which means that I have to get a little bit creative here. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. It’s a day that you can wear kitten ears, a collar, and a tail without being judged, so I’m 100% into the holiday! So, for this freebie prompt I’m going to list the books I wish I could have read before the 31st! 

Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell – I bought this book when I went wondering in Castle Rock, Colorado, for my birthday. I found this charming indie bookstore called Sudden Fiction. It’s in a tiny room but had some great hidden gems. I picked this book up and knew it had to come home with me.  

The Dare by Harley LaRoux – I read one of Harley LaRoux’s short stories last month and it was a quick and dirty read. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Harley’s writing, so when I found out she had a novella coming out that is Halloween themed, I knew I needed to get my hands on it. It’s currently sitting on my kindle waiting for me to pick it up! 

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski – I tell myself every year that I’m going to read this book in October and every year I fail. It’s going back on my TBR, and maybe next year, I’ll pick it up. 

Small Spaces by Katherine Arden – I couldn’t help but buy this book when I saw Katherine Arden at the Tattered Cover earlier this year. It looks creepy and the perfect book for Halloween. 

The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie – I met Paige when I ran one of her book signings at Barnes & Noble. She was one of the sweetest people I have met, and this book has been sitting on my bookshelf ever since. I’m not one for horror, but it really would be the perfect book for October.
