It’s Friday, and that means it is time for Friday Favorites! Friday Favorites is hosted by the wonderful blog Something of the Book. Basically, a prompt is given, and you get to gush about your favorites.
This week’s prompt is favorite magic wielders! As someone who loves the fantasy genre, this one came more natural to me vs. the villains one of last week.
As you know by yesterday’s post, Harry Potter truly defined me as a book lover. I couldn’t help but pick two of my favorites from the series, Luna & Neville. I love Luna because she was one of the first characters I could see myself in. I loved how quirky she is, and I loved that she didn’t let other people’s opinions affect her opinion of herself. She helped me a lot with my self-confidence when growing up. Neville was terrific because he was always himself and was able to stand up to his friends when he knew they were doing wrong. He was the underdog, and I always root for the underdog.
The Nobody People was one of those books that made me genuinely sit down and think this year. Carrie Norris is one of those characters that falls into the background but plays an essential role in the story. I love her because she was someone I could see myself in. I loved her story arc, and I just think we could be besties.
Kingdom of Exiles is another book I read this year and just loved the main characters Leena & Noc that I can’t even choose between the two. They each had their own sort of magic, and that is something that I loved. The chemistry between them was scorching, and I just loved everything about the characters themselves.
Last but not least is Morozko from the Winternight Series by Katherine Arden. Morozko was imperfect and fascinating. I won’t say too much about my reasonings because I don’t want to spoil anything. I will say that I loved watching his story, and he is one of the reasons The Bear and the Nightingale is one of my favorite fantasies.
So there you have it! Those are my favorite magic wielders! What are your favorites?
