It’s Friday, and that means it is time for Friday Favorites! Friday Favorites is hosted by the wonderful blog Something of the Book. Basically, a prompt is given, and you get to gush about your favorites.
This week’s prompt is favorite hyped books! I will admit I am always a little hesitant to read any hyped books. Typically those books never live up to the hype, and I am left wondering if it was the hype that ruined them. So many books have been ruined by the over hype, so when a book lives up to it (or even surpasses it), I am thrilled. This year I’ve read quite a few books that have lived up to the hype, but I’m going to narrow it down to two. Well, technically, 3.
The Neverland Series by Gina L. Maxwell has been one of those series that just lives up to the hype. I was so incredibly worried that I was going to hate Pan because no book could live up to the hype I saw everywhere about this book. It seemed like EVERYONE was reading it. When I read it, I was shocked at how amazing it was and how it exceeded my expectations! The same thing goes for Hook. As you all know, I was anxiously awaiting Hook, so the hype was real, and I was part of the build-up. I just finished Hook last week, and all I can say is that Gina L. Maxwell is a fantastic author, and I cannot wait to read all of her backlist titles!
Desperate Measures by Katee Robert was one book that I knew I needed to read. I’ve always had a slight thing for Jafar. I found him fascinating, and Jasmine has always been one of my favorite Disney Princesses. When I found out this book existed, I knew then and there that I needed to read it. I kept seeing this book everywhere, and I kept seeing it recommended over and over. The hype was incredibly strong with this book, so naturally, I was nervous to read it, and I genuinely expected it to disappoint me. Luckily for me, this book was everything I wanted and more. I LOVED it. This book is one of my favorite BDSM themed books, and one of my top reads for the year. I cannot wait to read more of Katee’s books and dive into her backlist as well!
So, there you have it! Those are my favorite hyped books! What are some of yours?
