Guess what day it is??? It’s Friday, and that means it is time for Fae Friday! Fae Friday is my personal creation that wouldn’t have happened without the help of Leah at Leah Books & Cooks! She helped come up with amazing posts and encouraged me by telling me that this wasn’t just a silly dream.
This week on #FaeFriday, we’re talking about changelings. Faeries were often accused of leaving changelings in place of a child. So this week’s prompt is: What is a book you picked up that wasn’t at all what you thought it would be?

My changeling book is definitely Parnassus on Wheels by Christopher Morley. I first got this book from Book Riot’s quarterly box (when they had a quarterly box), and it definitely wasn’t something I thought I would like. When I first read the blurb, it sounded semi-interesting but didn’t look like anything that I would actually read. The book in itself looked like it would be boring. The orange cover wasn’t anything to write home about, and I’m actually surprised it isn’t still sitting in my TBR pile.
Luckily for me, I picked up this book when I couldn’t figure out what to read next. This book truly is a changeling for me. I didn’t expect to like this book, and I honestly don’t know why I decided to finally read it. I expected it to be boring, and a waste of time but I was definitely wrong. Parnassus on Wheels is one of those books that have stayed with me for years. I loved the simplicity and I loved just the feel of the book. It was such a pleasant surprise, and it’s made me think of classics in a new and exciting way. Parnassus on Wheels isn’t action-packed, but it’s character-driven, which is my catnip.
Now that you know my changeling book, what’s yours? Are you participating in #FaeFriday? Leave your link so I can read all your beautiful posts!
Sounds like an interesting book. The cover is boring though.

Based on the cover, I would not have given this book a second thought. It just goes to that gems can be found in the fullest of places.

Yep! The funny thing is that this is the better one of the covers. The other cover for it is even more blah.
