#FaeFriday | 1.31.2020

It’s week 2 of #FaeFriday and this week, we’re talking about the Winter Court. The Winter Court is known to be dark, chilling, and sensible. They are the faerie representation of winter, so this week’s prompt is: What book left you feeling the winter chill?

This prompt was co-created by @Leah_Books! Please link to her blog www.leahbooksandcooks.com!

Picture of The Bear and the Nightingale, The Girl in the Tower, The Winter of the Witch.
Psst. They’re all autographed!

Anytime I think about winter, I think about the Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden. This series is one of my favorite fantasy series. I honestly judge all the fantasies I read by this series.

The Winternight Trilogy is based on Russian folklore. The Winternight Trilogy has a significant focus on winter, and while reading, I always felt the chill. Katherine Arden is a master at description. I felt like I was walking the woods in winter alongside Vasilisa. This book also features the Winter King which goes perfectly with the winter court theme this week. I highly recommend you grab a blanket and pick this series up.

      1. Ahh that’s brilliant! I do love having the correct pronunciations, but not all paperbacks or hardbacks have a list or glossary that includes them! Will definitely try to get an audio copy at some point then! 😊 thanks for the rec and advice💜💜

  1. I DESPERATELY need to read these books. I’ve heard so much about The Bear and the Nightingale but just haven’t gotten around to reading it yet.

  2. Thanks for sharing! I started The Bear and the Nightingale, but it was when I first moved so I couldn’t get into it. I was too stressed and just wanted cheesy romance. Perhaps I’ll revisit.

  3. That series for sure! One of my faves, and that of most of my co-workers. Others that scream winter chill (to me) are: Wicked Saints, and the middle reader Dead Voice by the same author.
