#FaeFriday | 7.31.2020

It’s Fae Friday, and today is extraordinary because it’s July 31st! It doesn’t matter what letter in the LGBTQ+ alphabet you are, you are valid, accepted, and loved. July 31st is a day to celebrate the fantastic people who make up the LGBTQ+ community. That is why the prompt this week is:

What is your favorite book that features LGBTQ+ characters?

Okay, I definitely can’t just pick one, so I’m going to have to highlight my go-to author that produces fantastic LGBTQ+ fiction, David Levithan. David Levithan is one of those authors that I keep going back to. I love that he writes LGBTQ+ characters that are realistic, hilarious, and nonstereotypical. He is an #OwnVoice author, and I love just about every book he has written.

Some of my personal favorites are:

The Realm of Possibility (Want to read my review? Click Here)
Boy Meets Boy
Every Day
19 Love Songs

I can’t thank my best friend, Victoria, enough for shoving The Realm of Possibility into my hand and forcing me to read it. It changed my life for the better.

So now that you know my answer, What is your favorite book that features LGBTQ+ characters?

  1. My most recent favorites are Upright Women Wanted, by Sarah Gailey (featuring sharp-shooting queer librarians) and The Deep, by Rivers Solomon (featuring gender-fluid finfolk). My oldest favorite is In Sea-Salt Tears, by Seanan McGuire (a queer selkie romance), and my very close second is Annie On My Mind (because of course!)
