My Thoughts:
I loved this book. It’s probably one of my top reads for the year. I will admit, I’ve wanted to read this book ever since I knew it existed. I’m a fan of dark romances and erotica, and Aladdin was one of my favorite movies when I grew up. Even though this book was right up my alley, I was incredibly nervous to read it.
The number one thing that I enjoyed with this book is the incredibly sexy consent. At the 3% mark, a safeword is stated, and Jafar always checked in and adjusted his approach. No lines of consent were blurred, and I LOVED every second of this book. It was fun to see the fight and the struggle. I adored that there was a safeword and knowing that everything would have stopped with one word. This book shows what the BDSM lifestyle is about, and this will be my go-to book recommendation when someone is looking for a better, more accurate portrayal of the lifestyle. Everything about this book screamed safe, sane, and consensual.
I truly loved the chemistry between Jasmine & Jafar. I was invested in their story, and I couldn’t help but root for them. I enjoyed the power struggle, and I swooned way too many times with this book. Seriously, the dirty talk in this book is some of the hottest I have read. This book brings a villain that we all love to hate and puts him into a new light. The side characters were also interesting, and I cannot wait for the next books.
Desperate Measures is easily one of my favorite books I have read this year. I loved the portrayal of the BDSM lifestyle, and I loved all of the incredibly sexy consent!
